Under direction of the Lee County Sheriff, the West Point Police Department, is located at the west-end of the Community Fire Station, 610 Avenue F, in West Point.  Reserve officers,  trained in CPR, ASP baton, oleoresin capsicum and defensive tactics,  are assigned to community law enforcement.  Additionally, Lee County Sheriff’s Deputies assist with  law enforcement needs that may arise when a Reserve Officer is off duty. FIRE DEPARTMENT

The West Point Fire Station is located at 610, Avenue F, in West Point. The all-volunteer Fire Department, consisting of a Chief and 31 firemen, provides fire protection to the contiguous rural area and communities of West Point, St. Paul and Pilot Grove, Iowa. Mutual aide agreements exist to assist other area fire departments. All firemen receive basic training in CPR and firefighting. The Department additionally holds skill/certification in EMT, para-medic, first responder and jaws. Fire Department equipment includes 3 fire trucks (2 pumpers and 1 tanker) and 2 rescue units. Annual fund-raisers include the Fireman’s Ball (conducted 2nd Saturday in February) and Fathers Day Pancake Breakfast (conducted in June).
